Mission 4.7

Building a Community to promote SDGs in Education for K-12 formal, non-formal and informal facilitators through a policy dialogue in the United States

Upcoming Events

Vision: A K-12 education system in the United States that is rooted in the principles and science of sustainable development.

Mission: Bring together leaders from government, academia, civil society, and business to accelerate the implementation of Transformative Education around the world.

Impact Statement: “To achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), every individual must acquire the sustainable development knowledge, global citizenship, and 21st century skills critical to tackling our shared challenges and promoting a future of equitable, inclusive, and resilient societies. Education is a crucial enabler of this transformation.” This community of practice will localize the bold vision of the global Mission 4.7, to achieve SDG Target 4.7 in the United States.

This convening of experts will bridge the existing gap of educating on the SDGs to make it a part of the formal curriculum. It will also engage in consultations and discussions with policy makers on integrating the SDGs for both formal and non-formal educators. This Community aims to curate and create relevant educational resources, develop policy briefs and engage policymakers on the need for greater investment in quality education, and identify ways to train and support educators across the United States. These activities will help to create a prototype of localizing Mission 4.7 that could be used a model for other regional SDSN networks.
